Leimart Park Car Accident Leaves 10 Injured

A multi-car accident near the Leimert Park area left ten people injured, two of them critically.
According to police reports, the accident occurred at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Los Angeles Fire Department officials say a pick-up truck drove through the intersection and crashed into another car. The impact of the collision created a chain reaction.
Ten individuals were removed from the crashed vehicles and transported to area hospitals to receive treatment for minor injuries. At least one of these accident victims was a child. Another man and woman were also taken to the hospital with critical injuries. One of the critically injured victims had to be rescued from one of the crushed vehicles.
The accident left the intersection closed for several hours Sunday afternoon. Police are still investigating to determine what triggered the serious accident and have not yet commented on whether drugs or alcohol were a factor. Should police determine that the driver of the pickup truck acted negligently in causing the accident, he may potentially face criminal charges.
