Rhona Mitra Sued for Venice Beach Car Accident

California Car Accident Attorney

'The Gates' star is being sued for $25,000 by injured motorcyclist.

Rhona Mitra, star of 'The Practice' and 'The Gates' is being sued by a Venice Beach motorcyclist for injuries stemming from a car accident.

According to the lawsuit, the actress crashed her 2002 Mercedes Benz G500 into a woman riding a motorcycle in Venice Beach. The victim is seeking $25,000 in compensation for injuries sustained in the March 2011 accident as well as the replacement of her motorcycle.

Mitra's representatives claim that police who responded to the accident have told her she was not at fault in causing the motorcyclist's alleged injuries. Both parties' insurance companies are believed to be negotiating a satisfactory resolution to the case.

While fortunately no one was killed in this car accident, other drivers may not be so lucky. In 2009, over 3,000 California motorists were killed in car accidents, with the majority of fatal accidents occurring in Los Angeles County. Thousands more drivers suffered serious injuries as a result of a car accident.

If the judge in the case determines that Ms. Mitra contributed to the accident through negligence or carelessness, she may be forced to pay the victim's claim for damages. While the injuries the victim sustained were not specified, she may have had to endure hospitalization, surgery and physical therapy in order to achieve a full recovery.
